The Gift of the Little Tree

In a small town nestled between the hills, there was a little girl named Preethi who loved trees more than anything.

Every day after school, she would visit the park, where a beautiful oak tree stood tall and proud.

It had been there for generations, its branches spreading wide, offering shade and comfort to all who sat beneath it.

One chilly autumn afternoon, Preethi noticed something different.

Beneath the oak tree, there was a tiny sapling, barely a foot high.

It was weak, its leaves turned golden with the coming of winter, and it seemed so fragile compared to the mighty oak.

Preethi felt a deep sense of care for the little tree. She wanted to protect it and make sure it grew strong, so she decided to visit it every day after school.

She brought a small watering can and gently poured water on the sapling, even though the ground was damp from recent rains.

She cleared away fallen leaves, making sure the little tree had space to breathe and grow.

As the days passed, Preethi noticed something magical happening: the tree was thriving.

Its tiny branches began to stretch upward, and new leaves sprouted, bright and green.

Winter came, and the snow covered the town in a soft white blanket.

The little tree stood still, its bare branches dusted with snow, but Preethi still visited it every day, even in the cold.

She whispered to it, “Grow strong, little tree. You can do it.”

Spring arrived, and to Preethi’s delight, the tree burst into life.

Its leaves were vibrant, and its trunk had thickened. It was no longer fragile and small, but a young, proud tree, full of life.

One afternoon, Preethi’s mother joined her at the park.

“Look, Mama!” Preethi said with a beaming smile, pointing to the now strong little tree.

“It grew because I helped it, just like how I’ve grown by helping others.”

Her mother smiled and hugged her. “You’ve learned something wonderful, Preethi. The world needs more people like you, who care for the small things and nurture them to grow.”

Years passed, and the little tree became a mighty oak, just like the one that had stood there before.

Preethi had grown too, becoming a kind and thoughtful young woman who always took time to care for the world around her.

She knew that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness could change everything.

And every time Preethi walked past the oak tree, now towering high above the park, she would smile, remembering the gift of the little tree—the gift that taught her the importance of patience, love, and care.

The end.
